Edgewater Park On Lake Erie Overview
Edgewater Park is a staple in Cleveland Metroparks. With 147 acres to explore, there are 9,000 feet of shoreline, dog beaches, swimming areas, boat ramps, a fishing pier, parking, bathrooms, areas to have a picnic, grills, and even a rentable pavilion.
While there are endless opportunities to explore, you can’t get to them all in one day. To help plan your day to the fullest, this guide will cover what to do at Edgewater Park and everything you need to know.
History Of Cleveland’s Edgewater Park
In 1894, a piece of land was purchased by Jacob B. Perkins, Cleveland’s Second Park Board. When Jacob made the purchase, there were two parcels of land, and they went on to become Perkins Beach and Edgewater Park.
When it first opened, they wanted to get people interested in coming down to the park, so they had events like the Maypole Dance and concerts.
Since then, a pavilion, baseball field, picnic areas, concession stands, playground structures, and a Yacht club have been built.
Edgewater Park is one of the most iconic and popular spaces for Cleveland residents to spend their free time or unwind from a busy day.
